The completion of the large-scale beta test of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” has triggered heated discussions in the gaming industry. While some players have criticized the revised TTK speed, while others have eagerly supported the developers abandoning the controversial Omnimovement mechanic, SteamDB data paints a more objective picture of audience interest.
During its 17-day run, the beta version of the project attracted a large audience, with the number of concurrent users on Steam reaching a peak of 115,145. This puts Infinity Ward’s new product ahead of last year’s launch Call of Duty: Black Ops 7its maximum number of players on the Valve platform remains at around 100,000.
Of course, PC stats don’t capture the series’ entire audience considering consoles and other launchers like Battle.net, but such a strong start to the beta sets the bar high for expectations. When the game is fully released on October 23, 2026, it will finally be revealed whether the revived series can regain the cult status it has lost in recent years.
