Smart Glasses Samsung Smart Glasses come in two versions, but neither comes with a display – it will appear in the second generation. Notifications, navigation information, incoming call information, etc. can be viewed on the display of the second-generation device, which will eliminate the need for users to take out their smartphones. The development of microdisplays for future artificial intelligence glasses was entrusted to Samsung Display Division – Samsung Electronics, as a customer, proposed technical requirements and specified form parameters, data output area, color rendering and target cost.
Currently, OLEDoS and LEDoS options are being considered, taking into account their features and price. Considering the development time of the panel and subsequent testing of the finished device, Samsung may release the second-generation smart glasses in the second half of 2027 or the first half of 2028.
We’re talking about ultra-compact panels with a diagonal of no more than 0.2 inches. The optical system projects the image directly into the user’s eyes, ensuring privacy: strangers will not be able to see what is displayed on the screen. But you’ll have to forget about full-blown multimedia content – only 4-bit color depth is available. Such displays are a far cry from the high-quality screens found on smartphones, but Samsung currently relies on text clarity and easy-to-read information, including navigation data and system windows. Finally, Samsung has yet to make an important decision: the company has yet to decide whether this display will be housed in just one lens or both.
