Mages, the Japanese studio that gave the world the hit visual novel Steins;Gate and the recent successful remake of Steins;Gate Re:Boot, suddenly decided to change the genre and announced a retro shooter called Juggernaut. The game is a shareware old-school boomer shooter in the spirit of classic Wolfenstein 3D, where players must shoot hordes of zombies in a pixel arena. In addition to the action game, there will be a paid editor, Juggernaut Assets Maker, for creating your own levels.

However, what attracted public attention was not the change in the author’s profile, but the development details officially revealed on the Steam page. The studio is honest enough to admit that the project is almost entirely generated by artificial intelligence. According to the developer, 100% of the source code, 100% of the visuals, 60% of the graphics and half of the audio were created by generative models, without the need for direct manual programming by humans – the project was actually created using the vibe-coding method. And if the “game” itself is literally free, then the level editor costs money, but it’s also 100% AI-generated.
