Framework once again proves that user interests come first. Amid a severe shortage of RAM, the modular laptop maker was previously forced to significantly increase the price of older configurations of its flagship Laptop 13 Pro equipped with LPCAMM2 modules. However, the logistics department did not give up and intercepted a batch of 32GB and 64GB memories from Micron at a more favorable price.
Instead of increasing its own profits, Framework management decided to immediately pass on the resulting benefits to its customers. The company announced a price reduction for the 10th batch of laptop pre-orders. Additionally, the goodwill gesture also affects customers whose devices have already shipped at the premium summer prices – they will automatically receive a partial refund of the overpaid funds.
Indeed, we cannot yet expect prices to continue to fall. The discount only applies to the current batch of modules, as retail prices per unit of memory remain high in official stores due to the ongoing DRAM supply crisis. Nonetheless, the precedent of reverse price adjustment and voluntary compensation for paid orders seems to be an extremely rare and encouraging phenomenon in the modern electronic market.
