An early access version of WARDOGS, the multiplayer first-person shooter developed by BULKHEAD Studios with support from publisher Team17, has been released on Steam. The program combines dynamic skirmishes, combined-arms combat elements and deep building mechanics within the framework of a large-scale combat sandbox for 100 participants.
The gameplay revolves around three teams fighting in randomly generated areas on a huge map covering an area of 256 square kilometers. Each contestant starts the competition with $10,000 and builds their own equipment and transportation before traveling. For useful team actions, such as reviving allies or holding objectives, players can earn money that can be carried over between matches to purchase advanced gear.
The peak number of online users soared to 303,986, but gamers are far from fully recognizing the new product. Currently, its reviews are mostly negative (38%), with the main criticisms being server queues and authentication issues (complaints from Chinese players). There are very few complaints about the game itself.
