The Roblox platform is gearing up to massively expand its reach beyond its own ecosystem. An initiative was announced at the developer conference Roblox is everywherewhich will allow content creators to leverage the company’s technology foundation to publish their projects as full-fledged standalone applications on PCs, mobile devices and consoles.
Representatives of the platform confirmed that the ultimate goal is to have such games available on leading third-party stores such as Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, although there will be a test mode with selected authors at launch. In addition, the company plans to launch projects directly in the browser by the end of the year, without prior installation (starting with Chrome), and add a full-fledged offline mode for single-player games.
