This week, SNK announced the 30th anniversary collection of the Metal Slug series during a Nintendo Direct. The collection will be released on all current platforms, including Xbox Series X | S, in 2027.
The collection covers all major arcade games in the series, as well as Metal Slug for the Game Boy Advance. In addition, it also includes the first location test version of Metal Slug – this is a test version of the project and has not yet been officially released. Therefore, Metal Slug Ultimate Collection contains 10 games:

- Metal Slug 2 (1998)
- Metal Slug X (1999)
- Metal Slug 3 (2000)
- Metal Slug 4 (2002)
- Metal Slug 5 (2003)
- Metal Slug Forward (2004)
- Metal Slug 6 (2006)
- Metal Slug 7 (2008)
- Metal slug positioning beta version
However, Metal Slug XX (an expanded version of Metal Slug 7) is not included in the series.
SNK will add modern features to classic games, bringing a more convenient experience. Quick save and load, rewind game, score attack and time attack modes will be available. Metal Slug Ultimate Collection will also feature online leaderboards and a gallery featuring artwork, logos and other franchise content. In addition, an online cooperation model was also announced.
