According to news CNBCChina plans to initiate the creation of an open BRICS artificial intelligence community. Support large language model (LLM) development and application cooperation, organize artificial intelligence seminars and training courses, and promote the formation of an open ecosystem in this field.

In addition, the country will also put forward a proposal to build a BRICS digital ecological cloud platform. The initiative plans to provide digital skills training, promote technology exchange and harmonize industry standards among participating countries. Xi Jinping also proposed forming a BRICS engineer training alliance and launching a youth exchange program in the field of scientific and technological innovation.

The moves come against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving market for artificial intelligence and an ongoing debate about the risks associated with the technology. Earlier this week, former OpenAI and Anthropic employee Jacob Coxon said many in the industry acknowledged that advances in artificial intelligence could have catastrophic consequences by the end of the century. Xi Jinping did not mention this topic in his speech.

In 2009, the first summit of the BRIC countries consisting of Brazil, Russia, India and China was held. After South Africa joined, it was called BRICS. Subsequently, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates became official participants. The association works to develop cooperation among the largest developing economies and strengthen their influence in international institutions.
