Composer Mick Gordon, known for his “driving” music for new games in the DOOM series, appears to be at least partially involved in scoring the shooter set in the StarCraft universe, it was officially announced over the weekend.

At least, this conclusion shows itself to be consistent with Forward Gordon announced a trailer for Blizzard’s new project. Yes, no one has officially confirmed anything and it’s just speculation at the moment, but, look, the odds aren’t high enough that the famous composer just released a shooting trailer without any subtext.
But the extent to which Gordon-style musical accompaniment would fit into a StarCraft shooter remains an open question. Historically, the Terran soundtracks in the series (we’ll be playing as Terrans) have been written in a space opera, industrial, and rockabilly style, which can hardly be called Mick Gordon’s specialty. On the other hand, a bad composer is one who doesn’t expand his horizons.
The StarCraft shooter doesn’t yet have subtitles and isn’t scheduled to be released until 2030, so Gordon still has plenty of time if he does get involved in composing the soundtrack.
