lost odysseyFinal Fantasy, the hit Japanese role-playing game developed by Mistwalker and written by Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, finally has a community-produced PC version. The project is called Lost Odyssey Remastered Editionunveiled this month, uses static recompilation to make the game run on modern hardware.
Lost Odyssey was originally released exclusively on Xbox 360 in 2008 and has never received an official port to other platforms. The game will still be accessible on the latest Xbox consoles due to backward compatibility, but the new project represents the first possibility Run locally on PC.
The port is still in the experimental phase Full compatibility with the entire game is not guaranteed at this time. The GitHub repository warns: “This project is still in the early stages of testing. A few selected areas and scenes have been tested, but the game is not yet complete from start to finish. Rendering and stability issues remain. You must provide your own compatible game files.”
Since its initial release, the project has received multiple updates, indicating that development is targeting incremental compatibility. Installation requires you to download the project file and specify Location of original game files You have it, obviously obtained from a legitimate copy.

Lost Odyssey isn’t the only Mistrunner Xbox 360-exclusive JRPG to be resurrected on the PC scene. Blue Dragon, another of the studio’s titles for Microsoft consoles, recently received a fan-made port based on a similar project.
