For the first time, the Speedtest.ru service has conducted monthly ratings of network connection quality in Russia based on user measurements in August 2026. This rating takes into account two service areas: mobile communications and fixed broadband access. The assessment is based on more than 5 million measurements from users of different operators.

A representative of Speedtest.ru stated that all estimates are based solely on actual measurements taken by service users in August 2026. To ensure statistical power, only samples with at least 1000 measurements per region and per access type were considered. This calculation uses median incoming and outgoing speeds and latency, meaning it reflects the overall quality of the connection, not just the peak speed.
For the mobile part, measurements over Wi-Fi were excluded from the analysis – only direct cellular connections were considered. In contrast, in the area of broadband access, we analyzed fixed networks. This rating does not measure network coverage or take into account service availability, but only shows the quality of the connection when measured.
The top ten regions in the “Broadband Access” category:
In the fixed segment, the median speed of the incoming channels for all ten leaders exceeded 90 Mbit/s, with pings of only 5-7 ms. The Murmansk region has the highest average incoming speed at 121.26 Mbit/s. The Murmansk region also leads the way in median outbound traffic speed, at 133.69 Mbit/s.
Top 10 mobile access categories:
The rating leaders’ mobile segment median incoming connection speeds ranged from 24.5 Mbit/s to 45.11 Mbit/s, and median pings ranged from 30.5 to 67 milliseconds. The Tyumen region has the highest average download speed – 45.11 Mbit/s. It also became the leader in median outgoing connection speeds – 46.3 Mbit/s.

Ratings based on September results will be published in the first 10 days of October.
