Chinese company Silkland has started taking orders for HDMI 2.2 Ultra96 cables – apparently the first such certified products to be made available to consumers. The new H96 series supports up to 96 Gbps throughput, twice the maximum of ultra-high-speed cables used by HDMI 2.1 devices. Pricing starts at $32.99 for the two-meter cable version.

The company offers its H96 series cables in two lengths: 2 meters and 3 meters. Both models have passed the HDMI Ultra Cable certification program and are officially labeled Ultra96. Certified individually for each model and cable length option. The label contains a QR code that allows you to check the authenticity of the cable on the official HDMI website. Orders are already open, but Silkland reports that the product will begin shipping in batches on October 5th.
The HDMI 2.2 specification will be officially launched in June 2025. It uses a new generation of data transmission technology – Fixed Rate Link (FRL) to increase the maximum throughput from 48 Gbps to 96 Gbps. Among the supported formats, HDMI lists 4K (240 Hz) and 8K (60 Hz) transmitting uncompressed video signals in full-color sampling 4:4:4. Higher resolutions and refresh rates (up to 16K) are also supported, depending on compression settings and color sampling.
Additionally, the specification introduces the Latency Indication Protocol (LIP), which allows connected devices to exchange signal delay information to improve audio and video synchronization. The new standard supports multiple functions such as VRR, ALLM, QFT, QMS, dynamic HDR and eARC. These cables are backwards compatible with existing HDMI equipment, but require HDMI 2.2 compliant hardware to operate at 96 Gbps.
It should be added that ELECOM released its own HDMI 2.2 Ultra96 cables on September 8, claiming that they are the first such certified products in Japan. However, the cables are expected to be launched in the Japanese market in mid-November, and Silkland will start taking orders on September 14th.
Current models of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards, including the flagship RTX 5090, still use the HDMI 2.1b standard. AMD Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards also support HDMI 2.1b. Intel Arc B series graphics cards are also limited to HDMI 2.1 support. The next generation of graphics cards is expected to support HDMI 2.2.
AMD’s GFX13 graphics architecture (also known as RDNA 5) is rumored to support HDMI 2.2 at 64 Gbps and 80 Gbps, which means it’s below the standard’s 96 Gbps maximum. Future Nvidia GeForce RTX 60 series graphics cards are also expected to gain support for HDMI 2.2, but Nvidia itself has not confirmed this information.
