Sea of Thieves Season 21 starts this week. The development team has prepared an overview of new innovations: players can look forward to an update to the custom ocean mode, a massive addition to the variety of outposts, and many activities that will not bore experienced sea wolves and green captains.
The season officially starts on September 17th. “Custom Ocean” has received more and more attention after it was opened to all players and had its own themed season. The first major addition is the Arrange feature, which now allows players to arrange their treasures any way they see fit, save their layout as a template, and load that layout the next time they log into the mode. The first month of the season will also introduce new settings and commands, expanding customization options.
September 19th is Speak Like a Pirate Day, a holiday traditionally celebrated on a large scale in Sea of Thieves. This year’s event brings the Negotiation Pennant, a flag that shows your crew is willing to communicate. If you lift it three times, you’ll permanently add the Negotiator’s Sail to your collection.
Players will have a lot to do this season due to changes in content development and release schedules, as well as new features, but the developers’ main focus will be on events, the Season Pass, and custom ocean modes. New content is already in preparation, but the developers intend to test it thoroughly before release. The decision comes after making some past mistakes and abandoning the strict requirement to release a full set of new products for a theme season simply for the sake of the fact.
The Outpost Shop will be stocked with a record number of cosmetics for those who want to upgrade the appearance of their pirate or ship. A slot for saving clothing sets will also be added to the appearance settings menu.
