The project will be implemented as part of a larger plan to expand McLaren’s manufacturing and research capabilities, which will cost the company £500 million. All development and production will take place in the UK, although it is not entirely clear whether this will be economically feasible, and the investor will be Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund L’IMAD, which is the company’s major shareholder.
McLaren has not revealed details about the project, but we know from previous publications that in terms of the design of its first sports crossover, the company will be based on the looks of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT.
