QR code problem

According to reports from various sources, the system update fixes a vulnerability that was discovered and linked to “Send to smartphone” functionwhich allows you to generate a QR code that can be scanned with your smartphone to transfer screenshots, recordings, and data.

This puts account data stored on the Nintendo Switch at risk, which should prompt anyone to perform the 23.0.0 system update as soon as possible to remedy this flaw.

It appears that the vulnerability does not affect the Nintendo Switch 2. The issue is registered as CVE-2026-82079, “Inventory Buffer Overflow Vulnerability.” An attacker can execute code as long as he is within the range of the wireless network.

The same issue affects Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, a toy set that also uses a QR code system to be sent to smartphones, and can be abused in the same way.
