The Fool’s Theory Studio team has welcomed an unusual member, whose long-term academic job unexpectedly blossomed into full-time video game development. Paula Meissner has become the lead writer on the upcoming Song of the Past story expansion pack for the massive role-playing game The Witcher 3. About 10 years ago, she completed her bachelor’s thesis analyzing the first expansion pack for Hearts of Stone.
In her student work, the researcher examined in detail the connections between the game’s history and classic works of Polish literature. She sought to demonstrate to her university professors the high cultural status of interactive media. Now the author has successfully written a story mission for his favorite series, fulfilling his long-held dream.
Such a path from academia to game development perfectly demonstrates the author’s deep investment in the series’ material.
