At the beginning of this year, Square Enix celebrated the 40th anniversary of the legendary role-playing series “Dragon Quest” and achieved a psychologically important milestone at the end of the year: the game’s total circulation reached 100 million copies.
Those are eleven flagship RPGs and a bunch of solid Bokeville. On the occasion of the event, designer Yuji Horii – who launched the series with character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Hikari Sugiyama – addressed fans.
In February, fans received Dragon Quest VII Remastered, and a reboot of Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams is in development. The latest version of the series to date is the surprise release of Dragon Quest Heroes: Mysterious Labyrinth of Torneko – Classic HD on September 9th for PlayStation 5, XBOX series, Switch/Switch 2 and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, as well as iOS and Android platforms in Japan. Well, on December 3rd (the demo version is already available), Dragon Quest Monsters: Blighted World will be released on the same platform.
