Sega and Creative Assembly have announced that Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition will be released on October 13, 2026. The 2011 strategy game gets a technological modernization on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. This pack bundles the base game with the expansion packs Rise of the Samurai and Fall of the Samurai, as well as all faction packs. In addition to visual tweaks, the developers have also introduced 64-bit support and 4K scaling for modern systems.
The new version brings the historical strategy game of feudal Japan up to current technical standards. The core of this revision is an upgrade to a native 64-bit architecture to continue to stabilize the performance of modern processors and graphics cards. In addition, the development studio is integrating improved textures, modified shadows, and user interface scaling to enable 1440p and 4K resolutions. A modern control system, support for ultrawide displays and integrated module support via Mod.io complete the technology range.
On the content level, the creators have unlocked more than 50 previously unplayable minor factions on the campaign map and added full language versions in Japanese and Chinese.
Game mechanics-wise, the tried-and-true basic framework remains unchanged: players conduct diplomatic negotiations, control clan economies on a turn-based overview map, and command historical samurai and ashigaru armies in large-scale real-time battles.
In addition to the single-player campaign, it also includes multiplayer modes such as cooperative campaigns and the traditional mode “Avatar Conquest”. For child protection reasons, only the Beauty Blood Pack is not included in the standard edition and must be purchased separately.
Existing owners of the original Steam version will receive all legacy DLC for free, and are also eligible for a limited-time 75% loyalty discount when purchasing the new version. With this release, Sega continues its strategy of making successful classics from its catalog accessible to a new generation of players, while ensuring the longevity of existing brands on current operating systems.
