NCSOFT and Dynamis One have announced that fantasy role-playing game Astrae Oratio will be released in 2027. Initially, the game will only be available on mobile devices running iOS and Android, but will later come to PC as well. Now the game can be tried out for the first time at Tokyo Game Show 2026, where the developers showed off an early demo.
The story of “Astrae Oratio” takes place in Tokyo in 1989, where magic and daily life coexist. The player plays the role of a SAR government official responsible for monitoring the activities of magicians and investigating events that occur in the city. The story is presented in the style of a visual novel. During the battle, you need to monitor your opponent’s actions and choose countermeasures.
“We blend story, visual style, and combat into a single gameplay experience, and we will continue to expand this experience through updates as part of the service model. Starting with the first playable demo at the Tokyo Game Show, we hope you will follow the development of Astrae Oratio as it grows into an ongoing series with new stories and characters over time,” Dynamis One Game Director Jung Kyu Game Director.
In the demo version, you can play the prologue and port storyline. In the prologue, mages from Minato meet Yuria Kujo from Kyoto, after which the player is introduced to the basics of the combat system. In the arc’s story mode, there is an approximately five-minute episode that focuses on the daily lives of mages in the area and is told through the inner monologue of Irene Tanaka.
Combat combines a turn-based structure with instant reactions. Each round consists of an action selection phase and an encounter phase. The player first observes what attack the enemy is preparing, and then selects the appropriate skill or changes the active role. Blue attacks can be countered through various types of actions, yellow attacks require timely counterattacks, and red attacks cannot be blocked through normal collisions and require prepared reactions.
For successful encounters, the dominance gauge is filled. Once filled, the current character can activate the unique “Declaration of Dominance” effect, which lasts for several rounds. Combat also uses character switching, allowing you to perform consecutive attacks based on the order of your enemy’s actions.
