Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival made another appearance at Gamescom 2026, but this time the developers at Saber Interactive gave us a chance to try out all-out combat rather than an introductory chase. And the game also has an unexpected trump card – the environment.
The new demo takes Aiden to a location controlled by a cultist. Here you have to explore rooms, find keys and items, solve simple puzzles and open locked passages. The structure of what’s going on is reminiscent of classic survival horror games like Resident Evil, but The Evil Dead’s dark aesthetic isn’t lost. The second maze encounter also presents a puzzle: the player must rearrange the platforms correctly to cross the abyss.
The main difference is when enemies enter the scene. First-person shooter shooting works as usual, with opponents reacting to hits to different parts of the body. However, it’s more interesting to use the Genesis Configuration – a mysterious configuration that can interact with the outside world.
For example, Aiden can draw flames from candles and lamps, turn them into fiery projectiles and fire them directly at enemies. In this case, the authors of the demo do not believe that the use of conventional weapons is very effective due to the high survivability of the enemy, but the use of the environment makes the battle significantly easier. It looks like the Creation Configuration will be one of the key mechanics that differentiates Resurrection from what the genre is typically represented by.
