The highly anticipated beta testing phase of “World of Warcraft: Forever” will begin on September 17, 2026, but with it will come serious technical complexities and overloaded network infrastructure. After the test client was launched, hundreds of thousands of simultaneous logins severely overloaded the Battle.net authentication servers, resulting in error messages, long queues, and connection establishment interruptions for a large number of participants. In public statements, management of the development team were surprised by the dynamic nature of the requests and emphasized that the capacity of the test environment is constantly expanding. Despite the short-term bottleneck, Blizzard sees registration numbers as evidence of continued high interest in the brand.

The first few hours of the beta have been tough for many eligible players. In addition to the Battle.net launcher lag that prevented the test client from downloading properly, forum users also reported recurring lag issues and error code “Bliz519” when trying to enter the game world.

Criticism of the operator’s preparations quickly erupted on official discussion forums because, among other things, preloading of the extensive beta client has not been fully available in advance. Developers and executives commented on bottlenecks in the social media pipeline.

Senior Game Producer Tom Ellis explained that the test environment was under tremendous pressure due to unplanned rushes and that backend services were gradually scaling up. Deputy Director of Production Clayton Stone also highlighted the extent of the rush and assured that the team is constantly working to free up additional capacity to gradually grant access to waiting users.

These incidents highlight the traditionally high utilization of Blizzard’s network infrastructure during large testing and release events. Despite the impatience of some parts of the community and comparisons with previous releases, developers see the rush as a true stress test of technical systems. After gradually spinning up additional server instances, the login infrastructure throughput became noticeably stable as the evening progressed.
