Remedy’s Control Resonant is receiving early reviews less than a week ahead of its September 24 release. The project currently has a score of 84 out of 100 on Opencritic. Despite its rather high score, many journalists criticized one of Control Resonance’s main mechanics – its combat system.

Critics in the review praised the world, visual design, and unusual structure. Additionally, most journalists praised Remedy for its bold attempt, as the developer had never before made a game with such an emphasis on melee combat and such a large, albeit not entirely open, world.
The main shortcomings of Control Resonance, noted by almost all journalists, are the monotony of combat, the same types of opponents, and the protracted nature of boss fights. The game also overlaps with other Remedy projects, and some reporters found the open world to be poorly structured and confusing to navigate.

- computer gamer Furthermore, individual opponents’ excessive health points are reduced to negative values, which is why the battle becomes a protracted war of attrition.
Some critics focus specifically on the boss. According to them, the battles with many of them looked spectacular, but the encounters themselves were boring. Digital Foundry highlights that boss battles in Control Resonant have huge performance issues on all consoles.
