The developers of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen have decided not to commit to it in advance. The team admits that it has lost the trust of players due to disruptions in spring wipes, poor testing, and premature announcements, and now wants to prepare a working version before setting a deadline.
Developers cited premature communication as a major problem. Dates for the not-yet-ready system were announced, and the PTR gradually grew from a rough test site into something more. Meanwhile, new levels and mechanics are appearing faster than the team can correct old mistakes. As a result, players received a version that was not fully tested internally.
Now the team is split: about half of the developers are working on the new production candidate, while the rest continue to develop PTR features and tools. As a result, test server updates are released less frequently. There is also no longer a specific date for Spring Wipe – it will only be announced once a version with all planned changes appears on the PTR.
Additionally, the team dropped Mastery in the next production candidate release. Developers said that the system did not fully highlight the characteristics of the profession, but weakened the basic mechanics of the profession. The exact timing of the wipe and what happens next to Mastery will only be clear once the new version is ready.
