If you were hoping that PC prices were about to stop rising, Acer has some bad news. The company expects computer prices to continue rising until at least mid-2027, with another big jump possible as soon as this fall.
Acer CEO Jason Chen predicts that by the fourth quarter of 2026, the price of finished PCs may rise another 5-20%. The increased size will depend on the configuration – systems with more RAM and SSD may become more expensive.
At the same time, the supply situation is gradually improving. Mr. Chen said that there is no longer a serious shortage of conventional DDR4 and standard DDR5, and the overall supply of processors has normalized. However, memory and SSD prices remain high, and increases in component costs are delayed in reaching end customers.
Acer expects increased memory production to start putting downward pressure on prices in 2027. As a result, finished computer prices are expected to peak around mid-2027, after which prices may begin to decline in the second half of the year.
