OpenAI replaces Denise Dresser nine months after her appointment. Dali Rajic, former president and current chief operating officer of Wiz, has been named the company’s new head of sales.

Dresser’s replacement is part of wider changes following the departures of chief operating officer Brad Lightcap and chief executive Fidji Simo, AGI’s chief executive, last month.
After Simo’s departure, OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman took on greater management responsibilities and announced Rajic’s arrival on his blog today. Rajik’s former employer Wiz was acquired by Google this year for $32 billion, the largest acquisition in the history of the technology giant.
“Dennis led our revenue team through the infancy of the business and has worked tirelessly to get the team to where it is today. The way we implement this technology is changing rapidly. Dali’s challenge is to translate what we learn into repeatable execution as we build a complete system that makes AI broadly useful to people and businesses,” Brockman wrote.
OpenAI says its products are used by more than 1 billion active weekly users and 2 million businesses. Despite the portfolio’s incredible growth and strong model, executives have privately and publicly expressed the view that the company has not yet achieved all of its revenue targets.
The company said it filed a confidential filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ahead of a possible initial public offering, but it was unclear when it would go public. Private companies often try to expand and strengthen their management teams before entering the public markets. However, this week OpenAI conducted a $7 billion secondary stock sale to shareholders, which may signal a delay in the public offering.
According to TechCrunch, in a publication about OpenAI’s changes, Bloomberg mentioned an entry on its blog stating that the company needs to “continue to focus” on “measurable business impacts.” However, those comments have been removed from the public press release.
Earlier this year, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company would focus on enterprise solutions and reduce technology and experimental projects that strayed from that goal.
