Over the past few years, publisher Capcom has been trying to add small microtransactions to AAA projects in its well-known franchises, including single-player games. The most discussed games on this issue are Monster Hunter: Wild and Dragon’s Dogma 2, where some regular features are actually blocked by microtransactions. The situation was rectified in Dragon’s Dogma 2 a few weeks ago, with almost all microtransactions removed, and soon these changes will affect Monster Hunter: Wild.
Capcom has announced that it will be retiring character editing coupons in Monster Hunter: Wild. With the release of the major expansion Ascendance in 2027, players will be able to change the appearance of Hunters and Palico for free and without restrictions, and the voucher itself will be completely removed from the project.
As of December 3, 2026, Character Edit Coupons will no longer be available for sale on all platforms. However, purchased coupons will not be lost and will remain available until Ascendance is released. As a temporary measure, Capcom will automatically award 10 Hunter and Palico appearance tickets to all players once the changes are made.
The developers also announced a special gift for users who previously purchased paid character editing coupons. Starting December 3, they will be able to receive a special Thank You Pendant Set, which includes two pendants: Heavenly Hog and Beelzeboar. Previously purchased coupons will not be refunded.
