Monster Hunter Wilds’ difficulty caused a lot of controversy among players at launch: parts of the community felt the game was too easy, and Capcom’s later attempts to correct this by increasing monster damage seemed rude to many.
The director was interviewed by PC Gamer at the Tokyo Game Show Monster Hunter Wilds: Rise Takuro Hiraoka explains that the main goal of the basic version is to retain beginners, as there used to be a lot of people who gave up on the passage world due to a sudden spike in difficulty.
Hiraoka acknowledges that there is an expectation gap between developers and the tech-savvy community. According to him, the team took this experience into account when creating the add-on. Advantagesthe main story will remain playable, while the deep and core end-game loop will satisfy the needs of seasoned veterans. Additionally, the director commented on Boost Bracer’s new mechanics, noting that they add tactical depth rather than turning players into invulnerable demons.
