Series official partner Lords of the Fallen held an in-depth Q&A session with CI Games Creative Director Ryan Hill regarding the development of the sequel, which is scheduled to be released in 2027.
The executive confirmed that the studio intends to turn the series into a long-running series, expanding the universe beyond the Mornsted region and into the larger world of Axiom.
The key change in the sequel will be the redesign of Umbral’s mechanics: parallel worlds will no longer be seen as a “must” for survival, but will become a flexible tactical tool that allows for smooth transitions between realities. Additionally, the developers will consider community feedback (including testing the game with experienced content producers), remove annoying elements like long runs to bosses, make all bosses unique, and add seamless co-op with modifiers from the start.
