The development studio behind the Senua series is said to be a victim of cost-saving measures at Xbox Game Studios. There was corresponding speculation earlier this year.
A major reorganization of Microsoft’s Xbox and associated development studios became a major issue when the first wave of layoffs hit earlier this year. It was already said at the time that further steps would be taken in this regard this year – this now seems possible; corresponding reports have gone viral online over the past few hours.
After a while, it seemed clearer to one developer at Xbox Game Studios: Ninja Theory. A few months ago, the studio was said to be on the verge of collapse within the studio, with new action game Senua still being announced and widely shown off as it tried to attract potential interested parties and buyers. It now appears that this venture has failed.

Ninja Theory itself confirmed the recent wave of layoffs, resulting in the loss of a total of 268 jobs at Halo Studios and other first-party studios. The statement also made it clear that two different deals surrounding the studio were clearly not going to work out; in the end, no buyer was found for the studio.
Therefore, according to well-known gaming journalist Geoff Keighley, Microsoft will now shut down Xbox Ninja Theory. Appropriate discussions have been held internally with employees, but in the meantime, they are still desperately looking for other options for the future.
