The developers of voxel MMO Trove have released the Rematch update, which significantly redesigns the PvP component of the game. The four PvP modes have now been combined into a single matchmaking queue, and gear stats have been rebalanced so that there are fewer differences between new and experienced players.
Prior to this, Trove’s main PvP mode was Bomber Royale. Once the update is released, Capture the Flag, Bomber Royale, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch will appear in the regular queue. Depending on the mode, the format of the game ranges from “2 vs 2” to “5 vs 5”.
The matchmaking system has also changed. You can now join a match that has already started, even during the countdown before a match starts. When new members join, teams are automatically redistributed to keep both sides with approximately the same number of players.
The developers have also redesigned the impact of equipment on character efficiency in PvP. More powerful gear will still provide an advantage, but each additional point of strength now has a smaller impact on stats, and the stats themselves have limits. The authors believe this should reduce the dependence of match outcomes on equipment and increase the importance of team play and tactics.
The game also adds new exclusive rewards for participating in PvP mode. Players can gain access to four new auras, wings, allies, and more.
