The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, announced a few weeks ago at Gamescom, will be released next week. All owners of the original version will receive the update for free, and the developers decided to clearly show on their social networks just how noticeable the changes are in graphics, animations and other “external” aspects. But not all players were happy with what they saw.
You can watch the video posted by CD Projekt RED on their social networks below. It shows off a fight against a group of enemies in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered.
player in Reddit They criticized the comparison on social networks, calling the improvements “weird” and pointing out the loss of atmosphere. One user immediately pointed out 4 issues with this battle scene that caught his attention:
- In the remake, the fire effects look better from a technical standpoint, but for some reason the jets are deflected to the right and appear to be aimed at the target itself. In the original, the fire came directly from the hands, which looked more natural.
- In the original version, the red glow from the fire was noticeably stronger, while in the remake it’s been almost entirely eliminated. This makes fire “no longer considered very hot.”
- In the original, the flames distorted the surrounding images, creating the effect of high-temperature mist. In the remake, this effect actually doesn’t exist either.
- Overall, the original visually conveys the heat of fire better. In the remake, that feeling has actually been lost, despite more modern effects.
Some players feel that the best environment was not chosen for comparison. The fog is clearly visible in the original image, adding atmosphere to the scene and making the image more expressive. In a remake environment “Looks too clean and sterile”.
Let us remind you that The Witcher 3 Remastered will not only feature graphical changes, but also various gameplay changes that will make the game “comparable to modern versions.” The game will be released on September 29th, and the game will also “Play Anywhere” on Xbox.
