As such, Diablo 5 doesn’t abandon the series’ theme of Sanctuary’s ongoing struggle against the forces that threaten its survival. Blizzard has simply taken this concept to the next level. While the first four games primarily asked whether humanity could survive another apocalypse, the new game begins with a darker premise: What would happen if Sanctuary really didn’t survive this time?
