The situation is slightly different with the Nintendo Switch 2: since the console has a separate version of the game, its size is about 50 GB. Therefore, Switch 2 users need to ensure in advance that there is enough free space on the internal hard drive or memory card.
In this case, we’re specifically talking about the additional download for the existing version, not the full size of the game. The remaster itself includes the original The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as well as two massive new additions – Hearts of Stone и Blood and Wine. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that owners of the base game will be able to get both expansion packs for free.
On PC, the final size of the installed game will depend on factors such as the language pack selected, so the exact requirements for available space may vary from user to user. This is especially true for people who have multiple voiceover and text options installed at the same time.
The update itself will be significantly larger than the name “Remastered” suggests. CD Projekt Red is modernizing the game’s visuals, improving environment, NPC and monster models, redesigning foliage, lighting and rendering, and improving ray tracing. Some changes affect gameplay and character development.
However, the developers won’t force owners of the original version to buy the game again. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will be available as a free update to eligible users on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A separate version will appear on the Nintendo Switch 2, and owners of The Witcher 3 on the original Nintendo Switch will also be able to receive the updated version when they upgrade to the new console.
This updated version is just part of CD Projekt Red’s massive return for a third game in the series. At the same time, the studio is preparing a new game “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”—— songs from the past.
