Elon Musk’s Tesla has encountered difficulties and has not yet reached its planned output of 20,000 Optimus robots per week. According to the publication informationlast month the company was “producing only a few hundred robots a week.”

Earlier this year, Tesla repurposed its Optimus production line to produce Model S and Model X electric vehicles. However, as The Information points out, this strategy can create production problems. For example, difficulties arise in the precise assembly of parts. “Not only is Optimus’s production line new, but Optimus’ parts are much smaller and must be put together with greater precision than automotive parts.”the publication wrote.
It is reported that the hands and forearms of the current Optimus robot model V3 version use “Currently over 100 screws and other small parts that require manual assembly”. The robots are lighter than previous versions and have more cameras, but they don’t have the “touch gloves” currently in development to improve their durability by making it easier to replace touch sensors without having to replace the entire hand.
Despite Tesla CEO Musk’s bold claims that this anthropomorphic robot will become “Tesla’s biggest product ever”. Currently, robots are only used within companies, performing specific tasks in a limited space, rather than being ubiquitous or used for remote control. Tesla also reportedly plans to lease the robots first, rather than selling them, and use the training data collected to improve them. However, they need to be brought to market first.
