Mojang hosted the Fall Edition of Minecraft Live, where they talked about the future of Minecraft, revealing new details about Minecraft Dungeons II and other initiatives surrounding its series. Below are the main announcements from the event.
Minecraft Dungeons II. Mojang showed off new footage for Minecraft Dungeons II, which will be released on September 29, 2026. The developer also clarified the plot details – in the sequel, players will have to deal with the imbalance of the world, resulting in the emergence of a large number of disaster villagers. The game will have an interconnected world instead of separate levels, players will have the ability to jump, and there will be rifts leading to new dimensions in The Sift. The dimension itself will be Minecraft’s first new dimension in 14 years.
Sieve in Minecraft. A new dimension in Minecraft Dungeons II will also be coming to the 2027 Java and Bedrock moderator versions of Minecraft. It will become the fourth dimension of the game.
New Minecraft content. The next Game Drop will add ice caves to Minecraft. The new underground biome will be filled with ice and calcite, and will also have icicles forming on the ceiling and ice crystals growing on the ground and giving off a soft light. In addition to the biomes, there will be a new zombie variant that can apply a freezing effect and hurl ice balls at players.
Minecraft Market. Mojang has announced a sound pack for the Minecraft Marketplace. They will allow you to use additional sound effects in your game content.
Minecraft. Mojang and Merlin Entertainments have announced that they will open a Minecraft World theme park in London in 2027. Visitors will enjoy themed entertainment, the first Minecraft hotel with en-suite guest rooms and an Undersea-style restaurant.
Creator platform. Mojang has announced its long-term creator platform plans to lower the barrier to entry for Minecraft content creators. Developers hope to improve the tools and systems for creating and distributing user-generated content so that more players can create their own game projects.
The broadcast also confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Minecraft will be released on October 27 this year.
