Even years after its release, Minecraft remains an absolute crowd-pleaser. There are still a lot of new players coming in every day.
Minecraft is now 17 years old, and no one would have imagined the long-term success of the block-based game. But if anyone thought that after all these years the end of the road would slowly but surely be reached, he would be disappointed. Minecraft continues to attract legions of new players every day.
At least that’s what Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed in a post on social media. According to Xbox bosses, an average of 300,000 new players play Minecraft every day; they actually have no previous connection to the game, so they continue to expand the already large player base.
Today’s Minecraft LIVE: Dungeons II is our first new dimension in 14 years, giving creators new ways to build, Minecraft on Nintendo Switch 2, and more. On average, more than 300,000 people play Minecraft for the first time every day. After more than 17 years and more than 425 million copies sold, I love that Minecraft is still finding new players and providing new discoveries for veteran players. 💚

According to Sharma, Minecraft has now sold over 425 million copies in the 17 years since its original release, which is an incredibly good number. Minecraft can easily be described as one of the most important and iconic series in video game history.
Sharma spoke about this topic on the occasion of the launch of Minecraft: Dungeons II. Mojang and Microsoft have been expanding the franchise for some time now, with spin-offs based on the main games. “Dungeon II” will be officially launched in the new week starting on September 29th. It is an action role-playing game. Additionally, Minecraft now has a place in the movie world thanks to Jason Momoa’s live-action film adaptation.
