The Blizzard team has shared details about the massive return of the legendary sci-fi series StarCraft in a new genre. Moving the timeline forward some 70 years allows the author to tell a stand-alone story about ordinary soldiers who find themselves the victims of military propaganda in the face of the ruthless Zerg, while retaining the opportunity to thoughtfully bring back classic characters that fans love.
The creators relied on a bleak survival atmosphere that contrasted with the technical bravado of Recruit.
At the same time, the developer emphasized that the team has enough experience and is already actively testing the internal build of the project in the office, creating clear frameworks and boundaries to meet the scheduled release date.
