Honor has launched its flagship gaming smartphone Magic 9 Super Edition in China. The device is based on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The new product has a powerful main camera and a large-capacity battery.

Honor Magic 9 Super Edition is equipped with a 6.81-inch LTPS OLED display with a resolution of 2788×1280 pixels, an update rate of 120Hz, supports HDR, and a peak (local) brightness of 10000cd/m22 (Global brightness 2000 cd/m22) and high-frequency PWM brightness control (3840 Hz) and narrow 1.03mm wide bezels.
The device sports a 50-megapixel front-facing camera on the rear panel and a set of three main cameras, including: a 200-megapixel Samsung S5KHP5 primary sensor (1/1.55-inch size), a 12-megapixel ultra-angle camera (f/2.4 optics) and a 50-megapixel ultra-angle camera (f/2.4 optics) and a 5000 Mega-pixel telephoto (AA mm) with 3x optical zoom. The rear camera can shoot video, the front camera can shoot 4K 120 fps video, and the front camera can shoot 4K 60 fps video.
Honor Magic 9 Super Edition is equipped with Honor H1 image chip and supports G200 teleconverter.
This smartphone has a very large capacity 11,000 mAh battery and is manufactured using Qinghai Lake technology. The battery contains 25% silicon and has an energy density of 963 Wh/L, which improves reliability and extends device life. The new product claims to support 80W fast charging (80W PPS and 40W UFCS standards), as well as 50W wireless charging and 27W reverse charging.
The fifth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor uses two cores with a frequency of 4.6GHz and six cores with a frequency of 3.62GHz. Other features of the new product include Phantom Engine 3.0, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, Honor RF enhanced C3 chip, and a cooling system including Honor Dongfeng turbofan (running speed 30,000 rpm) and Honor Jade Plate 2.0 vapor chamber. According to the company, the cooling system is 30% more efficient at removing heat from working parts.
The device is 8.1 mm thick and weighs 227 grams. The smartphone will be available in Black, Green, Yellow, and White colors.
Honor Magic 9 Super Edition has started pre-orders in China. The base configuration of the device with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is estimated to cost 4,500 yuan (approximately $670). Configurations with 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of persistent memory will also be available.
