iQOO has launched the iQOO 16 smartphone in China, positioning it as the performance-focused successor to last year’s iQOO 15. This new flagship is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme processor, a proprietary iQOO Q4 gaming chip, and a large-capacity battery.

The iQOO 16 smartphone is equipped with a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 AMOLED display with a resolution of 3168×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. The screen supports an instantaneous sensor polling rate of up to 5000 Hz and a global brightness of 2800 cd/m22 Peak local brightness is 10,000 cd/m2. The panel also features full-range DC Dimming technology (DC brightness control) and high-frequency PWM control with frequencies up to 3300 Hz.
The device is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, built using TSMC’s 2nm process technology and running at a frequency of up to 5.01 GHz. The chip works with LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The smartphone also comes with a special proprietary Q4 gaming processor, Monster Super Core Engine and a cooling system with 8500 mm vapor chamber.2. The 8400mAh battery is made of fifth-generation silicon anode technology and supports 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. In addition, the device uses iQOO’s proprietary Q-flex control technology: it optimizes six-stage touch input processing and interacts with touch controllers and gyroscopes at the game engine level to reduce reaction delays in games.
The smartphone has a 50 MP main camera on the back (OmniVision OV50Q sensor) with optical stabilization, a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens (Sony LYTIA 600 sensor) also with optical stabilization, and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. There is a 32MP selfie camera on the front. The smartphone’s main camera supports video recording up to 8K resolution.
The iQOO 16 runs Android 17 with the proprietary OriginOS 7 shell. This device is equipped with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner (3D technology), Wi-Fi 7 and NFC modules, USB 3.2 Gen1 port, infrared port and stereo speakers. In order to provide more diverse and precise tactile feedback, linear vibration motors are used to support the X-axis and Z-axis. The housing is IP68 and IP69 rated, ensuring dust and water resistance.
The iQOO 16 starts at 5,999 yuan (approximately $900) for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage version. The model with 12/512 GB memory configuration is priced at 6,799 yuan (approximately US$1,020), and the model with 16/512 GB memory configuration is priced at 7,499 yuan (approximately US$1,125). The option with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage is priced at 8,499 yuan (approximately $1,275). The smartphone comes in three design options: Chasing Light, Legend, and Track.
Prior to this, information about the iQOO 16 global version had appeared in the database of the European certification agency EEC. However, there is no official data on when the device will be released in international markets.
