Polaroid has announced a new instant camera that will allow photographers to be more creative and experiment with images. In addition to the exposure dial, the new Polaroid Mod camera features a dial around the lens to switch between four creative shooting modes and capture unique analog effects directly at the press of the shutter button.

The two creative modes are based on combining two exposures into one image. The Double Exposure function superimposes two images together to blend parts or scenes, while the Split Frame function splits the image in half using a rotating attachment that blocks half of the shot at a time.
Light art uses slow shutter speeds to capture the light trails of moving bright light sources, while mounting the camera on a tripod to prevent static elements in the frame from blurring. “Motion Freeze” is Polaroid’s name for its rear-curtain flash sync function. Use a longer shutter speed to capture the movement of your subject, then combine this with a sharp image captured using flash at the end of the exposure.
The Polaroid Mod works with the Polaroid i-Type and 600 sheets of color or black and white film, and can shoot up to 15 cassettes for instant printing, a maximum of 120 pictures, on a fully charged 750 mAh battery. The camera uses a fixed focus system with two lenses: a standard 103mm focal length and a 95mm focal length portrait lens, which can be changed according to the needs of the subject.

The Polaroid Mod is now available globally on the Polaroid online store for $169.99. The new products will be available in U.S. retail stores on October 6.
