Apex Legends will revise ranked matchmaking after experiment

Respawn has summarized the results of its Apex Legends ranked matchmaking testing, and confirmed that it won’t completely give up the opportunity to play with friends just to go against a team that’s too strong. At the same time, developers admit that problems with pre-assembled top-tier units remain.

Last season, the team tested two temporary changes to ranked play. Both address the same problem: players may encounter high-level prefabricated groups, especially in relatively weak lobbies. As a result of the experiment, Respawn decided to keep the goal itself – reducing the number of such matches – but abandoned the decision to be too direct.

Now the team is preparing new tests. More significant changes to ranked mode should come in Seasons 31 and 32, with the developers promising to reveal details in October. That is, the current match still exists for now, but its next version is already being assembled behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, Respawn continues to transition the PC version to EA Javelin Anticheat. After the migration, some players experienced issues connecting to matches, which the developers have since fixed.
