Dell launches Pro Rugged 13 Extreme, the world’s smallest and most powerful rugged laptop

Dell has launched the Dell Pro Rugged 14 and Pro Rugged 13 Extreme rugged laptops, which are compact and designed for use in harsh environments. The manufacturer calls the Pro Rugged 13 Extreme model the world’s most compact, powerful, and fully protected 13-inch AI PC. The Pro Rugged 14 model is positioned as the world’s most compact and powerful partially cased 14-inch AI PC.

According to the manufacturer, the Dell Pro Rugged 14 and Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme can withstand drops of up to 1.8 m and operate in a temperature range of -29 °C to +63 °C. The new product is IP66 rated, ensuring it is resistant to dust, dirt and pressurized water jets. The devices are also certified to HazLoc C1D2, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461G standards. Improved battery cold start function ensures reliable starting at low temperatures (as low as -20°C).

The Dell Pro Rugged 14 lifts 2.41 kg (depending on configuration) and the Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme lifts 2.13 kg.

The Dell Pro Rugged 14 offers three 14-inch display options: two non-touch panels with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels and a brightness of 400 or 1100 cd/m22 With anti-glare coating or touch screen, resolution 1920 × 1200 pixels, brightness 1100 cd/m22.

This laptop comes with Intel Core Ultra 5 335 vPro (8 cores, up to 4.6 GHz, NPU 47 TOPS), Core Ultra 5 336H vPro (12 cores, up to 4.6 GHz, NPU 47 TOPS) or Core UltraNP 7 366H vProGHz (16 cores). The laptop is available in 16, 32 and 64 GB LPCAMM2 RAM configurations with speeds up to 8533 MT/s. An optional discrete Nvidia RTX Pro 500 Blackwell graphics card with 6 GB of GDDR7 memory is available (available in Core Ultra 7 366H configuration). The manufacturer also offers SSDs with capacities from 512 GB to 2 TB.

The Dell Pro Rugged 14 has a 53.5 Wh battery and comes with a 65W or 105W USB-C charger depending on configuration. The laptop also claims to support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and can be equipped with an optional 5G Qualcomm Snapdragon X72 modem and independent GPS module.

This laptop comes with 2x Thunderbolt 4 (Type-C, 40 Gbps, 1 rechargeable), 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps), 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps) with PowerShare, 1 Gbps LAN, HDMI 2.1 TMDS, 3.5 mm Audio 3c Out, 30733 23333330 cards/3033 cards per month. Optional card slots and 2.5 Gbit LAN or Fischer connectors.

Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme

The Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme only offers one display option: a 13.3-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 60 Hz, and 1400 cd/m peak brightness2 and anti-reflective coating.

This laptop comes with Intel Core Ultra 5 335 vPro (8 cores, up to 4.6 GHz, NPU 47 TOPS), Core Ultra 5 338H vPro (12 cores, up to 4.7 GHz, NPU 47 TOPS) or Core UltraNP X7 368H vProGHz (16 cores).

The ability to select a discrete graphics card is not provided here. Graphics are handled by the built-in Intel Arc B370 or Arc B390 GPU of the Core Ultra 5 338H and Core Ultra X7 368H processors, and the Core Ultra 5 335’s Intel Graphics.

The laptop is available with 16, 32 or 64 GB LPDDR5X RAM, with speeds up to 8533 MT/s, and an SSD with capacities from 512 GB to 2 TB.

The device also includes one USB 3.2 Gen1, one USB 3.2 Gen1 with PowerShare, two Thunderbolt 4 (USB4 Type-C with PowerDelivery 3.0), HDMI 2.1, RS232 port (serial), 3.5mm audio out, 1 Gbit LAN. You can also choose to equip it with 2.5 Gbit LAN, USB Type-A, Fischer connector, microSD memory card reader and nanoSIM slot.
