Shortly after the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, Polish development studio CD Projekt RED responded to initial player feedback and provided two updates to fix bugs. In addition to console patch 5.00b for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series Corrections submitted at short notice primarily address technical deficiencies accompanying the release of a graphical and mechanical overhaul.
With the release of patch 5.00b, developers are focusing on fixing platform-specific flaws. In the Xbox Play Anywhere version on PC, Nvidia’s DLSS functionality was not available to users at launch – this bug has been fixed with an update. The patch also makes adjustments to the lighting system, as various interior and building areas were appearing too dark for many players following the remaster’s release.
Console updates are also supplemented by tweaks designed to ensure full parity between the console and PC versions. The development team announced that while these adjustments are being made, further error reports will be evaluated through the support portal in order to prepare for future performance optimizations.
Hotfix 5.00c, released at the same time, solved a serious problem in the PC interface pre-stored program. Previously, saving and loading game saves would fail for users whose system paths to their file folders contained special characters. The patch also corrects volume fluctuations in voice output after pausing menu navigation and a display error when saving marketing telemetry settings.
In the visual area, the patch provides fixes for Velen, including fine-tuning of halo effects, vegetation lighting, color saturation, and light representation using path tracing. Based on feedback from the PC community, CD Projekt RED has reverted a previously made change to its HairWorks entity software that resulted in severe performance issues and visual bugs on some systems.
For users of the GOG platform, a bug that prevented unlocked achievements from appearing in the profile list has also been fixed. After the correction it is also possible to start the classic game version (1.32) again without restrictions.
