World of Warcraft: Forever, unveiled at BlizzCon, has been a hit in beta and is expected to be fully released in November. One of the interesting features of this project version is support for gamepad controls. Meanwhile, the game itself is currently only available for PC, with the developer not confirming plans for a console release.
There were rumorsWorld of Warcraft: Forever may still be released on consoles. On the website of the Brazilian Ministry of Justice, World of Warcraft: Forever lists not only the PC version, but also the console versions: Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Switch. The information was quickly removed from the site, but screenshots circulated online, sparking a new wave of rumors about a potential console release for World of Warcraft.
The Playstation 3 platform’s presence in the ratings does not mean the game will be released on it. Reddit users pointed out that the Brazilian Ministry of Justice does not rate games such as ESRB or PEGI, but restricts specific trademarks of the platform. The presence of the Playstation 3 in the platform list may be due to the peculiarities of the local government system, as the Playstation 3 is in fact still sold in the region. What’s more interesting in this case is the emergence of console platforms in the context of World of Warcraft: Forever.
Blizzard has previously stated that they have no specific plans to release World of Warcraft: Forever on consoles.
