Studio Serafini Productions, best known for the dark anthology BrokenLore, has unveiled its most ambitious project yet – the old-school psychological horror The Signal Veil. The game is developed based on the aesthetics of the 90s anime and has a nostalgic greeting for fans of the classic parts of Silent Hill and Resident Evil. This version is planned to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The story centers on Aki, a female student who inherits her late mother’s old mobile phone. Soon, the phone begins to receive otherworldly signals, and the girl finds herself locked within the walls of Nishikawa High School, surrounded by creepy ghosts. The main feature of the new product is a classic fixed camera with a cinematic angle and a deliberately limited field of view to create tension.
Survival revolves around interacting with your old phone – it warns of approaching ghosts with static and vibrations, a flash light lets you stun creatures, and a built-in camera reveals hidden signs in space. There won’t be the usual monster-killing methods – cartridges and first-aid kits are in short supply, and enemies can only be eliminated through a step-by-step exorcism ritual. The heroine’s sanity levels are on fire – as her mental health deteriorates, reality becomes distorted, making the school nightmares more unpredictable.
