StarCraft: Voyager – Through the Unknown has received patch 2.1, which adds the full-fledged Q Trials mode. In it, the captains must return home again, but now with routes, events, and challenges regenerated every time they play.

Players select a ship, captain, and starting hero, and then navigate through procedurally created areas with different missions, opponents, and events. Along the way, you gain permanent tech, unlock new heroes, and select Q modifiers, which not only enhance your ship’s strength, but also add serious limitations to it. Progress is no longer measured in the number of sectors, but in light years from home, with complexity gradually increasing as distance increases.

At the same time, the Equinox DLC was also released, which includes a new ship, the USS Equinox, three heroes, and a separate story mission. It has its own layout, and its biological laboratories allow it to produce special fuel for long jumps – however, the cost of such short journeys is quite severe. The main campaign includes new ship activities, additional uses for the Delta Flyer, and the updated Equinox aircraft carrier.

The patch also redesigns the economy, trade, and resource distribution, improves the interface, and fixes many bugs. Q Judgment automatically saves progress after each activity, and achievements cannot be earned in this mode – apparently Q decided that no virtual Judgment medals would be enough.
