Film adaptations of the Battlefield franchise continue, and now Sony seems to be in a position to snap it up. Meanwhile, appropriate discussions are said to have been initiated to secure an agreement.
Sony has begun talks to secure the rights to a planned film adaptation of its Battlefield series, according to a new report. The film was produced by Christopher McQuarrie and Michael B. Jordan; the latter may also be credited as an actor in the film.
In April of this year, the first reports of plans to adapt the historic shooter series into a movie appeared online. At the time, a number of entertainment heavyweights were said to be interested in the rights to the film, including Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon-MGM Studios, Sony, Universal Pictures and Netflix. When asked, Sony reportedly refused to comment on the matter, but according to the magazine, talks have now begun and are progressing.

He previously wrote Top Gun: Maverick and several films in the action series Mission: Impossible. Michael B. Jordan remains on board as a producer and potential actor. Other producers are said to be Jesse Stern of Electronic Arts, Carter Swan of Emerald Neon, and Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo.
