Reviewers praise the unique setting of an alternative 19th-century Europe, the rich combat system, well-integrated platforming elements, thoughtful level design and responsive controls.

The disadvantages of the game include a weak plot, a small variety of enemies, too generously placed checkpoints, a drawn-out game (you start to get tired of the battles), problems with the balance of difficulty and performance on a PC.

Critics agree that Valor Mortis is a solid entry into the Souls action genre, and when it all comes together, this mix of Dark Souls and BioShock plays as well as it sounds.

Valor Mortis will be released on October 13th on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S for $40. Players will take on the role of William, a soldier of Napoleon’s army who died on the battlefield, who was resurrected thanks to a mysterious substance called nephtoglobin.
