Shortly before the release, the PC version of the open-world role-playing game Dragon's Dogma 2, which will be released on March 22nd for the PC, the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, is still struggling with performance problems. This has now also brought developer Capcom into action, but they are pretty relaxed. In a statement to the website IGN, the studio said the following:
In Dragon's Dogma 2, each character is allocated a large portion of the CPU load and the effects of their physical presence in different environments are dynamically calculated.

It is precisely in such situations that there were sometimes severe drops in performance during initial preliminary tests, as the website PCGamer reported, among others. But Capcom is aware of this, as the following statement to IGN also makes clear.
In certain situations where numerous characters appear at the same time, CPU usage can be very high and affect the frame rate

As IGN and PCGamer, as well as other websites, report, Capcom's recommended hardware requirements should “really be considered the absolute minimum.” At least six processor cores with SMT/HT or better eight are absolutely recommended. Experience shows that at least one Core-i-12000 or Ryzen 5000 should be scheduled for release, according to the preliminary testers.
Even high-end GPUs reach their limits
As IGN reports, a combination of a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and a Geforce RTX 4090 can “drop” into the 30 frames per second range in cities, as NPCs would have a huge influence on performance. The development studio is obviously still quite relaxed about the whole thing.
We recognize that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load currently have limited effect; however, we are looking for ways to improve performance in the future.

IGN has also published some screenshots from benchmarks in 4K/UHD (“2160p”) with DLSS 3 Ballanced, which demonstrate that even a Geforce RTX 3090 struggles quite a bit with the game in certain scenarios.

PCGamer's benchmarks, on the other hand, ruthlessly reveal how much performance drops, especially in cities densely populated with NPCs.

PC gamers will need very powerful hardware in order to be able to play the open-world role-playing game at 60 fps+ continuously; even Full HD (“1080p”) does not seem to be always possible for many graphics cards at the moment.
