
Kinetic Publishing held the first Kinetic Publishing Showcase, showcasing 5 Xbox games. The biggest announcement was a new project from Sam Barlow (author of Her Story and Immortality), which also revealed several indie games due to be released in 2027 and 2028.
Liaison Agreement – Spring 2027
In Contact Protocol, players will work on a spaceship and examine documents from other ships they encounter on their way to Jupiter. Depending on the situation, you have to decide if you can trust the crew of another ship, or if it’s worth destroying it with a torpedo. According to the authors, in the game they focus on psychological stress and gradually increasing task difficulty. The game will be released immediately and will support Play Anywhere on Xbox.
Crescent County – Summer 2027
In Crescent County, players take on the role of a witch using modern technology. In the open world you must deliver packages, participate in competitions and develop romantic relationships. The game will receive Xbox Play Anywhere support immediately on launch day.
Shellbound – Summer 2028
Metroidvania is set in a vast world on a living snail shell. Players will take on the role of a parasite, able to seize control of enemies and NPCs, using their abilities to explore new areas.
Aether Wizard Life – Fall 2028
According to the developers, Aether Wizard Life combines a variety of genres and mechanics. Players will explore the world, fight, farm, build cities, manage shops, and develop relationships with other characters. The plot involves the disappearance of a wizard kidnapped by a mysterious group. The graphic style used by the author was inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli. The game will receive Play Anywhere support immediately upon release.
Foreknowledge – Spring 2028
The main focus of the presentation was Precognition – a new game from Sam Barlow, known for Her Story, Lies and Immortality. The project was previously tentatively named Project C. The game is a sci-fi horror thriller that focuses on time travel, foreseeing the future, and the consequences of interfering with the passage of time.
